Yacht-Master 40 Automatic Black Dial Watch

A black dial under a rotating black bezel, in a 40mm steel case – a size that sits level on most wrists and reads as dress or weekend depending on what it is worn with. The dial is deep and plain, so the hands and the date are the only things on it.

It runs on an automatic self-winding movement: wearing it winds it, and there is no battery to replace. Left off the wrist it keeps going for about 36 hours before it needs winding or a day’s wear to start again.

The strap is a black fibre one with a premium clasp – lighter than a bracelet and easier to wear all day – and the case back is solid steel rather than glass, which is the more durable of the two.
